FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: steel consists of the basic layer containing, wt.-%: carbon 0.08-0.10; silicon 0.17-0.37; manganese 0.3-0.6; chrome 0.6-0.9; nickel 2-3; copper 0.4-0.7; molybdenum 0.35-0.45; aluminium 0.02-0.06; niobium 0.02-0.05; sulfur 0.001-0.010; phosphorus 0.001-0.015, and iron - the rest, and cladding layer containing, wt.-%: carbon 0.01-0.12; silicon 0.2-0.8; manganese 1.3-2.5; chrome 17.0-20.5; nickel 8.0-11.5; niobium 0.7-1.2, and iron - the rest. Condition: thickness of cladding layer is 5.7-16.7% of the total bimetal thickness. Proposed steel shows the strength level σ0,2 at least 590H/mm2 and resistance to fragile rupture. EFFECT: enhanced quality of steel. 5 tbl
