FIELD: microscopy. SUBSTANCE: scanning tunnel microscope has hollow cylindrical body 1 vertically oriented and put on base 2. Unit of positioning of sample 4 is placed into lower part. Unit of positioning of needle 3 is composed of two isometric piezoceramic isolated semi- cylinders 5 anchored with upper butts on upper flat surface of body 1. Two flat hard-alloy sectors 6 with bevel working faces are attached to lower butts of semi-cylinders 5. Needle 3 is pressed with hard-alloy protrusion 8 of pressure plate 9 to them. Adjustment screw 10 is located in upper part of body. Unit of positioning of sample incorporates piezoceramic tube II attached to base 2 with lower butt and holder 12 of sample fastened to upper butt of tube II.
