FIELD: preparation of fluoroplastic such as polytetrafluoroethylene. SUBSTANCE: thermal decomposition of difluorochloromethane at 650-850 C in the presence of steam in a reactor made of a chromium-nickel alloy. The inner surface of the reactor is pretreated with a stream of steam at 750-950 C for 3-6 hr at a steam flow rate of (1-5)10-2 kg/m2. The process is made simplified due to a shorter induction period of the reaction and passivation of the inner surface of the reactor. EFFECT: improved properties of the tetrafluoroethylene. 2 tbl
