FIELD: metallurgy, continuous metal casting. SUBSTANCE: continuous metal casting method includes metal putting into crystallizer, pulling ingot out of the crystallizer at variable velocity, measuring metal level in crystallizer, adjusting metal flow rate inside the crystallizer and ingot pulling out velocity, cooling down ingot surface in the area of secondary cooling by a coolant sprayed by sprayers, adjusting coolant flow rate depending on ingot pulling out velocity. When continuous metal casting metal feeding in crystallizer is stopped periodically for 2 to 20 s intervals, velocity of metal meniscus travel inside crystallizer is measured, obtained values of above velocity and ingot pulling out velocity are compared, difference in values of these velocities is determined and corresponding changes in ingot pulling out velocity are made by a value of velocity difference obtained, then metal feeding in the crystallizer is renewed. EFFECT: improved quality of ingots made by continuous casting. 1 tbl
