FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method of metal continuous casting includes the metal feed into the mould, the ingot extraction from it with variable velocity, the holding up and the guiding of the ingot with the aid of rollers, the cooling of the ingot surface with a cooling agent sprayed by sprayers, the measurement and the control of the cooling agent rate through the sprayers along the secondary cooling zone as well as the tracing of displacement of the ingot members along the secondary cooling zone. Before the beginning of the continuous casting process, a double-layer flat member is shifted along the secondary cooling zone under the fuel sprays of the sprayed cooling agent. The layer facing the cooling agent is subjected to controlled heating up. The temperature of each layer is measured. The difference of these temperature values is determined and is kept constant by means of the corresponding change of the cooling agent rate at each level of the sprayer location along the length of the secondary cooling zone. EFFECT: enhanced quality of continuously cast ingots at the expense of enhanced accuracy of the adjustment of the secondary cooling conditions.
