EXHAUST SILENCER Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering; mainly, internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: exhaust silencer has tubular housing with inlet and outlet branch pipes inside which pipe is axially arranged. Mounted between this pipe and housing is swirler made in form of circular inserts fitted on pipe and mounted at distance from each other by means of bushes; these distances reduce from inlet to outlet branch pipe of the silencer. Circular inserts are flexible and are provided with several radial cuts forming tabs turned about their radial axis in such a way that all together they form discontinuous helical line and making several helical passages (according to the number of tabs).
