FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: hearth electrode has head of refractory material which lower part is produced in the form of hollow shank. It carries tip connected to head of case made from electro- and heat-conductive material. for instance copper, having cooling ducts. Case is joined with head over outer surface of tip put into shank to form permanent joint over area of contact of tip with inner surface of shank. Joint can be bimetal. EFFECT: enhanced operational efficiency and prolonged service life of hearth electrode. 13 cl, 6 dwg
