FIELD: metallurgy, namely procession of sulfide ores, concentrates and industrial products of nonferrous metals. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of after burning sulfur in exhaust gases by oxygen-containing gas with simultaneous heating of a charge in a cyclone heat exchanger, mounted over an oxidizing zone of a bubbling double - zone furnace; ejecting the charge by an inert gas into an upper part of the above mentioned heat exchanger; feeding the oxygen-containing gas through nozzles, arranged along a periphery of the exchanger in and spaced by a distance, equal to (0.25-0.3) of a height of the heat exchanger with a pitch, being determined according to a formula , where Dh.ex.- a diameter of the heat exchanger; dnoz.- a diameter of a nozzle; n- a number of nozzles, with a rate, providing penetration of a gas jet into a flow of exhaust gases by a depth, equal to (0.15-0.17) of the diameter of the heat exchanger.
