FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: parent dehydrate carnallite melt is treated in cyclone chamber with carbon-containing fuel combustion products followed by treatment of the obtained melt in bubbling zone of two-zone mixer and feeding chlorinating-reducing mixture under the melt surface. Ratio of melt consumption circulating between bubbling and siphon zones of mixer to consumption value of the parent dehydrated carnallite = (30-35):1. Combustion products obtained at carbon-containing fuel and chlorine combustion at coefficient ratio of oxidizing agent excess 0.8-0.85 were used as chlorinating-reducing mixture. Magnesium oxide content in the end product is decreased to 0.8%. Method can be used in nonferrous metallurgy for magnesium production by electrolytic method. EFFECT: improved method and economy of process, decreased chlorine consumption. 1 tbl
