METHOD OF PUNCTURING SPINAL MARROW CYST IN CASE OF SYRINGOMYELIA Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: medicine, particularly neurosurgery and neuropathology. SUBSTANCE: this method prescribes somatotopically determining location of spinothalamic tract, selecting point for cyst puncture, inserting needle into intervertebral disk of patient in supine position and under local anesthesia, more precisely laterally in between neurovascular fascicle and trachea and medially between esophagus, carrying out test roentgenography of cervical section of vertebral column, positioning needle over against spinal marrow, inserting electrode into needle, puncturing pineal membrane and cyst wall, carrying out electrocoagulation, withdrawing electrode, and then inserting needle into needle guide. Needle diameter is equal to inner clearance of needle guide. Final step is cyst puncture. EFFECT: excellent results.
