FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: ingot mold working surface alloying method provides for application of aluminum containing composition on rod, made of sand-clay mixture. Before application of the composition rod is preliminary covered with antisticking paint and dried in drying apparatus. Under rod surface temperature of 50 - 100 C they apply composition, made of aluminum powder, cryolite, sodium chloride, refractory clay, dextrin, inhibitor in following ratio of components, mass %: cryolite 2.0 - 2.8; sodium chloride 9.0 - 11.0; refractory clay 10.0 - 16.0; dextrin 0.8 - 1.2; inhibitor 0.02 - 0.04; aluminum powder - the rest. Density of rod applied cover is 1,52-1,55 g/cm3 and composition consumption of 850-1600 g/m2. EFFECT: increased ingot mold durability due to exclusion of sticking and preservation of diffusive layer. 1 tbl
