FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, particularly, foundry; applicable in increase of stability of articles in their casting with use of molds from sand-clay mixtures. SUBSTANCE: method includes application of aluminum-containing layer to core made from sand-clay mixture. The layer contains, wt.%: cryolite, 1.0-2.5; sodium chloride, 5.0-8.0; potassium chloride, 4.0-7.0; fireclay, 9.0-15.0; dextrin, 1.0-2.0; water glass, 2.0-4.0; aluminum powder, the balance. composition is diluted with water to density of 1.35-1.75 g/cu.cm and applied with its consumption of 500-1900 g/sq.m. EFFECT: higher stability of ingot mold. 2 tbl
