FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: dye is applied on a rod. Dye has following components, wt.-%: cryolite 2.0-4.0; sodium chloride 6.0-8.0; potassium chloride 4.0-8.0; refractory clay 10.0-18.0, and aluminium powder - the rest. Dye is applied at density 1.30-1.80 g/sm3 and consumption 600-2 000 g/m2,. Invention can be used for increase of article strength using rods made of self-hardening mixtures. EFFECT: increased strength of ingot mold and aluminium utilization. 1 tbl
