FIELD: metallurgy; thermal treatment; application of uniform and lasting brown-patina coatings to surfaces of copper blanks such as rolled tapes and sheets; civil engineering. SUBSTANCE: this method prescribes roughing surfaces of copper blanks and then thermally treating these for 0.1 to 30 min within temperature range from 150 to 650 C. Additional chemical oxidation following heat treatment of copper blanks is also advantageous to improve adhesion of brown-patina coatings to surfaces of copper blanks.
