FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: product is brought into contact with at least one solution for the patination and in a subsequent processing stage, at least one aqueous polymer dispersion is applied to the produced patina layer. Pigments are added to at least one solution for patination and/or to at least one dispersion. At that, the dispersion penetrates into porous patina, then dries and forms with a patina compound which is diffusion-permeable for water vapour. The remaining amount of dispersion solids, including pigments, is deposited upon drying on the walls of porous patina cavities, without filling them completely, providing preservation of open porosity of patined copper products.
EFFECT: providing a method for patination of articles made of copper or copper alloy, in which a greater choice of colour is possible, without impeding further natural ageing.
