FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves continuous pouring by means of crystallizer and two cooled rolls rotating in opposite directions and positioned in opposed relation one with respect to the other so that pouring space is defined between rolls; continuously drawing strip of hardened steel from pouring space; exposing steel strip to the action of quenching medium, which provides quick cooling of steel strip to prevent it from formation of austenite. Device has quenching bath positioned within vessel, which is disposed below rolls and has bottom with opening for passage of steel strip upon hardening. Inert gas in liquid state may be used as quenching medium, which may be ejected on product by means of nozzles. EFFECT: provision for obtaining steel strips, which are easy to be cut and wound upon exit from pouring line by absence of martensite in ferrite die. 11 cl, 2 dwg
