FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves supplying metal from main ladle into intermediate vessel through elongate discharge branch pipe, further into vacuum chamber through pouring pipe with subsequent distribution into crystallizers under metal pipe with subsequent distribution into crystallizers under metal level through elongate pouring cups; regulating metal level in intermediate vessel and ladle; regulating consumption of metal from ladles and vessel and withdrawing ingots from crystallizers at variable speed. During replacement of main ladle, ingot withdrawal speed is set in accordance with decrease of metal level in intermediate vessel and intermediate ladle and in accordance with thickness and width of cross-section of ingot, main ladle replacement time and number of crystallizers.
