FIELD: composite materials production. SUBSTANCE: composite material based on aluminium matrix is produced by forming permeable paste of ceramic filler of certain surface bound, witch has barrier. Liquid aluminium and magnesium alloy comes in contact with the permeable paste of ceramic filler in the presence of gas mixture of about 10 to 100 volumetric per cent of nitrogen, the balance being oxygen- free gas, for instance, hydrogen or argon. Molten alloy impregnates of its own accord ceramic paste at atmospheric pressure until reaching barrier. Alloy based solid may be placed adjacent to permeable layer of ceramic filler, witch has a barrier, and heated up to liquid condition with temperature at least of around 700 C to form composite of reticular structure with aluminium matrix trough impregnation. Besides magnesium additional alloying elements may be used with aluminium. Items produced of composite material may have non-continuous phase of aluminium nitride in aluminium matrix.
