FIELD: metallurgy; process for production of new composite materials. SUBSTANCE: essence of this process resides in producing stiff ceramic structure including ceramic base prepared by oxidizing aluminum-zinc alloy to produce polycrystalline product resulting from metal oxidizing and one and more fillers enveloped in base. Alloy and permeable filler stock having at least one outlined boundary surface are oriented relative to one another in such a manner that oxidation reaction product is formed in filler stock and in direction of outlined boundary surface. Molten metal is allowed to react with oxidizer at heating metal to first temperature which is higher than its melting point but lower than melting point of oxidation reaction product which constitutes base of molten starting metal to produce oxidation reaction product which impregnates filler stock to boundary surface. Thus produced impregnated stock should be heated to second temperature so as to either remove or oxidize at least part of all nonoxidized metallic components with preventing further formation of oxidation reaction product downstream of boundary surface to enable formation of stiff ceramic structure. EFFECT: highly durable material. 9 cl, 2 dwg
