FIELD: manufacture of ceramic composites. SUBSTANCE: process includes the steps of manufacturing a shaped blank from a metallic material selected from the group consisting of hafnium, titanium, zirconium, silicon, alloyed aluminum; placing the metallic blank into the bed of fusible non- reactive refractory aggregate or its combination with a reactive expanded aggregate that is penetrable for both a reactive gaseous agent and a molten metal; and heating the reaction product. The heat treatment is carried out for 5-95 hrs at a temperature that exceeds a molten metal point, and is less than a melting point of the product of contacting metallic material with a gaseous reagent or a reactive aggregate. The resulting molten product is kept at maximum temperature for 50-225, cooled and the composite ceramic is recovered. The surface of the blank to be transferred reversely to the ceramic obtained is contacted with the aggregate, and the remaining blank surfaces are coated with alabaster barrier layer.
