FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: this method prescribes carrying out sorption purification of infected pleural liquid by circulating exudate within closed system to enable actilyne exudate passing through sorbent to become free of toxins, degenerative cells, microbial bodies and their fragment and then return to pleural cavity, content of proteins in liquid remaining unchanged. Single procedure requires about 8 to 10 g of sorbent. Space velocity of flowing liquid is between 50 and 60 ml/min. Time required for carrying out one procedure must be calculated in regard to complete circulation of 1.0 to 1.5 volumes of exudate. EFFECT: effective sanitation of exudate with preservation of proper proteins, reduced term of obliteration of pleural cavity and lower rate of post-operative complications after pneumoectomy carried out in case of chest empyema.
