FIELD: electrical engineering; metal halogen lamps. SUBSTANCE: quartz envelope with hermetically sealed electrodes is filled with inert gas, alkaline metal halides and additions to form radiating metal halides. Used as inert gas is xenon, mercury is excluded from metal halogen composition and ratio of xenon pressure in kPa to amount of additions to form radiating metal halides, in mc/mol/cm3, is within 29 and 205. All components are taken in the following amounts, mc/mol/cm3: alkaline metals halide - 0.27 - 1.9; additions to form radiating metal halides 0.65 - 8.48, and xenon pressure in within 66.5 and 266 kPa. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of operation. 1 tbl, 1 dwg
