FIELD: working of metals. SUBSTANCE: method involves feeding liquid metal from pouring ladle into vacuum chamber; creating residual pressure in vacuum chamber; working metal in vacuum chamber; feeding metal into intermediate ladle through branch pipe and further into crystallizers. Metal is fed from vacuum chamber into intermediate ladle by means of additional branch pipe. When metal level in intermediate ladle rises above branch pipe lower end level and liquid metal seals vacuum chamber, circulation vacuum processing of metal in intermediate ladle is effectuated by supplying inert gas into one of branch pipes. When predetermined residual pressure is created in vacuum chamber, working of metal in intermediate ladle is conducted simultaneously with circulation vacuum processing and hydrogen content in steel in intermediate ladle is determined. In the process of metal working inert gas flow rate is set to be within the range of 4-24 m3/h and may be varied within the range of ± 10--50% in direct proportional dependence on deviations in hydrogen content in steel of intermediate ladle.
