DRIFT TUBE OF LINEAR RESONANCE ION ACCELERATOR WITH FOCUSING WITH ACCELERATING FIELD ITSELF Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

Abstract RU 2032284 C1

FIELD: charge particle accelerator. SUBSTANCE: drift tube is manufactured compound of two butt electrodes 4 and 5 and one cylindrical electrode 6 which are fitted with holders 7 for independent anchoring of equipotential elements 8 and 9 of resonance system of accelerator. Each butt electrode is adjusted independently that is why it is sufficient to match center of hole aperture with axis of accelerator. Inner diameter of cylindrical electrode is chosen bigger than diameter of hole aperture. In this case requirements for angular matching of axis of drift tube with axis of beam are decreased and there appears possibility of adjustment of drift tubes without use of special adjustment mechanisms which leads to simplification of technology of manufacture of drift tubes.
