RACK-TYPE WOUND WIDENER Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

FIELD: medicine, chest and abdomen surgical operations. SUBSTANCE: widener has a gear rack, movable and fixed mirrors opposing each other and connected to a movable drive- powered mirror. The drive is made in the form of a slider with bar. There is a carriage placed between the mirrors alongside a screw clamp. There are guide slots placed at a direct angle to each other. The first guide slot is made for the rectilinear area which makes part of an additional, hook-shaped, working part. This additional working part is engageable with the screw clamp and placed for movement. The second guide slot is orientated like the gear rack. This carriage is attached to the rack by the second guide slot. There is a rectangular or cylindrical window which is perpendicular to the rack plane; the screw clamp is made in the form of a threaded member and provided with a nut (located in the window) having two flats and a collars which are installed for engagement with the rectilinear area of the additional working part. This working part is made in the form of a blade whose longitudinal stopper is made like a through slot. The window has a washer to engage through its side surfaces with the end of the screw clamp.
