FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: method of concentrating substances from solutions comprises steps of cyclically passing with change of direction an initial solution through layers of sorbent at temperature values T1 and T2 with temperature difference between these values, equal to (25-100) C; taking off a concentrate from between the layers of the sorbent, determining time period of one cycle according to a formula, given in description of the invention. Installation for performing the method according to its first version has ion exchange columns with units of valves in their upper and lower portions, an accumulating reservoir, a counter-current ion exchanger, a concentration pickup, a temperature controlling heater, a cooler, a pump, a temperature pickup, a line for feeding an initial solution and for delivery of a ready product, automatic cocks and a pipeline system, connecting one with another different members of the installation and an electronic system for controlling operation of the installation. An installation according to second version has parallel joined ion exchange columns with units of valves in their upper and lower portions, an accumulating reservoir, a four-chamber heat exchanger, a concentration pickup, two temperature controlling heaters of the initial solution and the concentrate, a pump, a temperature pickup, automatic cocks, a line for feeding the initial solution and for delivery of the product, a pipeline system, connecting members of the installation and the electronic system, controlling operation of the installation.
