FIELD: manufacture of ceramic articles. SUBSTANCE: composite material has alternating layers of carbide- silicon matrix containing fiber of silicon carbide SiC-SiC with at least one inner layer containing partially carbidized carbon fiber and coke binding the silicon carbide in matrix. Surface layer provides for reliable protection against oxidation at high temperatures and inner layer provides for enhanced resistance to deformation and thermocycles of entire material. Material is produced by known method which consists in making the carboplastic blank, carbonizing and siliconizing it. Difference in composition in surface and inner layers of the material is achieved through using the cloth made of cheap carbon fiber in manufacturing the carboplastic blank of prepreg which is provided or not provided with coating which is barrier to liquid silicon made of pyrocarbon, for example. These layers having different composition may alternate in the material in thickness; components may also alternate in each layer of material. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 2 cl, 1 tbl
