FIELD: composite materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of creating carbon-carbide construction and heat-protective materials working in conditions of high temperatures and oxidising media and to the field of creating and producing carbon materials based on carbon fabrics, and can be used in the chemical, petroleum, and metallurgical industries, as well as in aerospace engineering and power engineering, for creating articles and structural elements subjected to impact of aggressive media. Method for manufacturing a two-dimensionally reinforced carbon-carbide composite material based on a carbon fibrous filler with a mixed carbon-carbide matrix includes the consecutive processes of laying out the base frame of the workpiece, impregnating the workpiece with molten pitch, carbonising in a sealed container in a high-pressure apparatus, and graphitising under vacuum, repeating the above operations until a material with a density of 1.9 g/cm3 is produced. Prior to laying out the reinforcing base frame, the carbon fibrous material is preliminarily coated with a slip solution containing a suspension of a powder of high-temperature pitch and a carbide-forming component Si, ZrB2 of ≤300 mcm fraction in an aqueous 5% solution of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), followed by drying the assembled base frame. Additionally, after machining the finished article to the size, the above slip is applied on the working surfaces thereof, followed by drying and annealing at a temperature above the carbide formation temperature, or a protective carbide coating of the required thickness is deposited from the vapour phase of the used carbide-forming element Si, Zr.
EFFECT: resulting composite is characterised by a maximum thermal stability, while the separation of the coating from the matrix is excluded.
