FIELD: recovering polytetrafluoroethylene. SUBSTANCE: unit has a reactor, a furnace, a blower, an auger feeder and a cooler. The reactor has a cylindrical insertion piece mounted in it in a space relation to its walls the insertion piece comprising a perforated hollow and a flange. The reactor is provided with openings for discharging destruction products. The flange upper edge is either level with the discharge openings or below them. Heating the melt in the reactor to 490-510 C results in polymer thermodestruction. The space defined between the insertion piece and the reactor walls facilitates drawing the destruction products through a liquid reaction phase by means of a blower. This increases gas flow volume. In this case the outlet of the finely divided polytetrafluoroethylene reaches 75%. Besides, the unit provides for nonpollutive recovering of polymers containing organic impurities.
