FIELD: production of sorbents. SUBSTANCE: sorbent contains aluminosilicate ion exchange minerals and foreign minerals, their quantities are 70-98 and 2-30 mass % respectively; exchange capacity of proposed sorbent being 1.2-2.1 mg equiv/g. Proposed sorbent is prepared by enrichment of natural zeolite-containing raw materials. Said method involves crushing, gravitation, magnetic separation and classification. The latter process is carried out by sizing two fractions: coarse fraction containing particles more than 0.1-3 mm in size and fine fraction containing particles being less than 0.1-3 mm in size. Chemical enrichment of fine fraction takes place by its treatment with aqueous solutions of acids, alkali or salts or by their consequently treatment by these reagents. Concentration of mentioned above reagent is 1-10 mass %. EFFECT: decreases content of toxic impurities, increases exchange capacity of sorbent. 4 cl, 2 tbl
