FIELD: fire and explosion control equipment. SUBSTANCE: this process can be used for evaluation of sensitivity of dielectric materials to ignition action of discharge of static electricity from their surfaces. Proposed process takes into account peculiarities of discharge of static electricity from dielectric surface when functions of one of electrodes of discharge gap are executed directly by charged surface of material and ionized region close to boundary. Electric field and form of discharge in discharge gap can have any shape and depend on geometry of second electrode and value of discharge gap. Power and energy of discharge can be controlled by duration and amplitude of front of voltage pulse and by their number. Discharge is ignited and burns over front of high-voltage pulse. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency and authenticity of process. 3 dwg
