FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: electric power line has at least one wire, at least one grounded support and one element for insulation of mentioned wire from other elements of line under electric potential different from potential of mentioned wire and means of protection of specified element of insulation against lightning surges. Specified protection means are manufactured in the form of sheath from dielectric material placed on specified wire in zone of location of protected element of insulation. Breakdown voltage of specified dielectric material is higher than discharge voltage along its surface. Length of specified dielectric sheath is determined depending on length of path of overlap of protected element of line insulation, number of wires covered with dielectric sheath to which protected element of insulation is connected and rated voltage of line.
