FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: mold for continuous casting of metals has supporting plates with narrow and wide working walls, secured to the plates and forming a working cavity of the mold, having an upper funnel-like portion and a lower portion of rectangular shape. The wide working walls of the funnel-like portion of the working cavity are curvilinear in a horizontal plane. A width of a concave part of the wide working walls is variable along a height of the funnel-like portion of the mold, and it changes from a maximum value on an upper end of the mold, equal to [b-(0.1-0.04)a] up to a minimum value, equal to [b-(1.0-0.4)a] in the lower part of the funnel-like portion of the mold. A curvature radius value of the concave portion of the wide walls of the mold changes along a height of the funnel like portion of the working cavity from its minimum in the upper end of the mold up to its maximum value at the of the funnel-like portion.
