FIELD: transport; lighting devices. SUBSTANCE: device has photodetector 1 installed in front part of vehicle and connected by its output to amplifier 2 which forms information pulses with radiator modulation frequency basing on signals of radiator of on-coming vehicle. These are checked for duration by pulse length analyzer 14 and, in case of coincidence, are supplied to input of photodetector pulse counter 16. When definite number of pulses, for instance 16 pulses are applied to photodetector input, counter 16 supplies signal to switch 5 which changes headlights from upper to lower beam. At no input signal for a definite length of time, change-over pulse shaper 15 generates signal to change headlight from lower to upper beam. Reliability of automatic selection of beams is provided by high noise immunity and use of pulse method of information processing. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of operation. 1 dwg
