FIELD: materials handling; belt conveyors. SUBSTANCE: broken conveyor belt catcher has base of conveyor, table in form of plates arranged under carrying belt installed between roller supports of carrying belt secured on frame for engagement with carrying belt in case of its breakage, housing rigidly secured on posts arranged above transported load with clearance decreasing direction opposite to direction of belt motion, and gate installed in narrowing part of housing to cut off flow of material on belt when reversing the belt. Each plate is hinge-mounted on conveyor base by means of two levers hinge-coupled with plate and inclined in direction of carrying belt motion. Extreme levers have support brackets hinge- coupled with ends of frame of carrying belt roller supports to suspend the frame; posts have guides for gate. Extreme lever is coupled with gate in zone of narrowing part of housing by means of flexible member, gate being installed in port guides for travel in direction square to plane of carrying belt and for engagement with belt. Conveyor base has stops to set levers in inclined position; frame of carrying belt roller supports is installed for engagement with post to preclude turning of levers in opposite direction in case of breakage of belt.
