FIELD: leather industry. SUBSTANCE: in a process for finishing leather, depilated hide is pickled with sulfuric acid, its amount being 1.5-1.7% by weight of depilated hide, and with ammonium sulfate, in the presence of potassium alum, chromized and tanned with basic zirconium sulfate of the formula: Zr(OH)y(SO4)x nH2O in which x is 0.6-0.8; y is 1-2x; n is 1-10.
