FIELD: rocketry and space engineering. SUBSTANCE: self-contained rocket pod has circular set of thanks 13 and 14, instrumentation sections 15, bi-propellant rocket engine 8 mounted in inner opening of tank unit along longitudinal axis and attachments for securing the unit to adjacent stage of launch vehicle and payload 10. Envelopes of propellant tanks and instrumentation sections are made in form of spheres whose diameters are equal to those of oxidizer tank envelopes. Centers of spheres are located at vertices of regular hexagon whose plane is perpendicular to longitudinal axis of unit and center is matched with its longitudinal axis; propellant tank envelopes are truncated with one plane and instrumentation section envelopes are truncated with two planes located at similar distance from center of spheres. EFFECT: development of unit of minimum mass at high dynamic characteristics. 3 cl, 9 dwg
