FIELD: diagnostics of electric discharge. SUBSTANCE: distribution of electric current in wall regions of electrode walls of MHD channel while measuring current between conductive plates positioned in interelectrode insulators is determined. Plates are mounted in pairs along length of each electrode wall flush with fire surface, are insulated from each other and from elements of channel structure. Each pair of plates is interconnected through instrument shunt on outer side of MHD channel. Thickness of plates is found by expression δ = (0,05÷0,1)h, where h is height of channel and distance between plates in each pair is δ1= (0,1÷0,5)δ.
