FIELD: coal-ter chemical industry for dry quenching of coke. SUBSTANCE: container for receiving coke, for cooling it and transporting coke from a coke oven without contamination of environment includes a receiving chamber, means for providing an effective fluid tightness between the receiving chamber and the coke oven, a unit for selective closing a door, a unit for cooling an outer surface of the receiving chamber for indirect cooling. The container is also provided by a combustion chamber and an assembly, connecting the receiving chamber of the container and the combustion chamber, for feeding combustible gases and particles from the receiving chamber of the container into the combustion chamber. The connecting assembly has a valve for controlling a flow of combustible gases. The combustion chamber is provided by a Venturi tube for mixing atmospheric air with the combustible gases. Method of dry quenching of coke comprises steps of centering an open end of the container with an outlet opening of the coke oven, controlling of the flow of the combustible gases, being emitted from the container into the combustion chamber, and increasing feeding rate of the combustible gases by passing them through the Venturi tube into the combustion chamber and by suction of atmospheric air into the combustion chamber and besides fixing a position of the container before the outlet opening of the oven.
