FIELD: manufacture of heat-and sound-insulating materials used in construction. SUBSTANCE: monolithic material contains interwoven fibres, binder and surface- active agent. The density of material and surface exceeds the material density on the whole by 5 to 20 times. The material is prepared as follows. Foamed fibrous aqueous suspension is prepared from binder and surface- active agent fibre, material moulding is accomplished from the suspension containing 60 to 90% of air. At the same time dewatering is accomplished for at least 3 min, better for 3 to 25 min, under the action of gravitational forces. Dewatered material is subjected to drying.
