FIELD: ophthalmology, contact lens. SUBSTANCE: stained polymeric contact lens has polymeric coating prepared on the basis of copolymer of hydroxyethylmethacrylate, ethoxyethylmethacrylate and methacrylic acid. Coating contains opaque dye phthalocyanine blue and compound containing at least one functional group CH2-O-R1 where R1 hydrogen or lower alkyl, and this group is bound with carbon atom that is a part of aromatic ring and nitrogen atom. Method of preparing stained contact lens involves applying the solution on the part of lens surface containing hydroxyethylmethacrylate, ethoxyethylmethacrylate, methacrylic acid, radical initiating agent, dye and compound with at least one functional group -CH2-O-R1 where R1 hydrogen or lower alkyl connected with carbon atom that is a part of aromatic ring or with nitrogen atom followed by polymerization, drying and hydration.
