OPHTHALMIC DEVICES OBTAINED FROM GRAFTED POLYMER MESHES AND THEIR PRODUCTION AND APPLICATION METHODS Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC B29D11/00 G02B1/04

Abstract RU 2776463 C2

FIELD: ophthalmology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ophthalmic devices, such as contact lenses. The ophthalmic device is formed by a method including: (a) provision of the first reactive composition containing: (i) a polymerization initiator, which is capable of forming upon first activation two or more free radical groups, at least one of which can additionally be activated upon subsequent activation; (ii) one or more ethylene unsaturated compounds; and (iii) a cross-linking agent; (b) exposure of the first reactive composition to the first activation stage, so that the first reactive composition is polymerized at it to form a cross-linked substrate mesh containing a covalently bound activated initiator of free radical polymerization; (c) bringing into contact of the cross-linked substrate mesh with a graft composition containing one or more ethylene unsaturated compounds, wherein bringing into contact is carried out under such conditions that the graft composition penetrates the cross-linked substrate mesh and is more concentrated on the surface of the cross-linked substrate mesh than in the core; and (d) activation of the covalently bound activated initiator of free radical polymerization in the cross-linked substrate mesh in such a way that the graft composition is polymerized at this point with the cross-linked substrate mesh.

EFFECT: invention provides an improvement in the quality of manufacture of a device.
