FIELD: railroad construction. SUBSTANCE: rail butt joint has joint straps 3 and 4 connected with each other and with rail webs 1 and 2 by means of track bolts 5. Rail heads are cut off through half the width with longitudinal plane inclined to vertical. Joint strap 3 is installed in contact with cut off part of rail head, and strap 4 has surface 15 for wheel ridge and restricted by projection 16. In this case, rail butt joint is provided with tie plate having flanges 7 confining bed for rail rigidly attached to joint straps 3 and 4. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 cl, 5 dwg
