FIELD: process equipment control facilities. SUBSTANCE: diagnostics are made throughout entire length of equipment under check. Method involves measurement of intensity and flux density of magnetic field at separate points, recording of measured parameters, shaping of smoothed series of parameters, standardization of smoothed series of measured parameters, recovery of fluctuation of adjacent points measurement parameters averaged earlier, setting of threshold signals indicating normal state of equipment and of threshold signals showing critical state of equipment, comparison of measurement parameters fluctuation signals with them, location of points of critical and emergency states, and shaping of coordinates of these points. EFFECT: provision for locating emergency and critical zones on tubes of heating surfaces of steam boilers, furnaces, etc; improved validity, informative capacity, and working efficiency of control; elimination of emergency start-stop situations caused by failure of heating surface tubes which reduces emission of pollutants into the atmosphere thus improving environment protection. 1 dwg
