FIELD: recovery of machine parts. SUBSTANCE: method involves removing defective layer of material with surface cracks from neck; mounting wear compensating parts formed as repair half-rings onto necks to compensate neck wear and defective layer with cracks; fixing half-rings on necks. Neck control method is changed. Neck lubricant channel output and transition grooves are strengthened by known methods. EFFECT: reduced cost for repair of self-propelled machines by decreased number of shafts discarded due to surface cracks on cylindrical neck parts; increased efficiency, simplified recovery process and enhanced reliability of recovered parts. 4 cl, 6 dwg
