FIELD: high-strength composite materials. SUBSTANCE: the hydraulic composition comprises 100 wt parts of crushed blast furnace slag, 0.5-5 wt parts of an alkali component selected from the group consisting of sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, sodium silicate, sodium methasilicate, 1-15 wt parts of a water-soluble polymer selected from the group consisting of polymethacrylate, polymethacrylamide, methacrylic acid-methacrylamide copolymer, partially hydrolized polyvinyl acetate, carboxymethyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, sodium polymethacrylate having a molecular weight greater than 10,000. The composition may further comprise from 2 to 50 wt parts of a fine filler selected from the group consisting of quartz, titanium oxide, calcium carbonate, clay, finely crushed quartz sand, and water. A high-strength composite material is prepared from said composition by a method which comprises mixing said components in the ratio as defined above, molding the mixture and subsequently subjecting the mixture to wet solidification.
