FIELD: engine engineering. SUBSTANCE: air is converted into a jet of low-temperature plasma to change physicochemical composition of the fuel. At least two air streams and one fuel stream are created. One air stream serves to obtain the jet of low- temperature plasma by way of electric-arc discharge. The products of physicochemical converting of the fuel and air are quenched. The quenched products are then mixed with the remainder portion of air or fuel-air mixture. The device for obtaining fuel-air mixture for an internal combustion engine has passageways for supplying fuel and air and arc plasma generator, plasma chemical reactor and sucking branch pipes connected in series. The passageway for supplying air is separated at least into two paths, one of which is connected with the plasma generator. In the plasma chemical reactor there is a passageway for supplying all, or a portion, of fuel. The quenching device is interposed between the reactor and sucking branch pipe. EFFECT: improved quality of the mixture. 3 cl, 1 dwg
