FIELD: production of mineral fibers. SUBSTANCE: method involves delivery of melt into centrifuge and forcing it through drawholes in the side wall of a bowl by centrifugal forces while maintaining a temperature gradient throughout its thickness equal to field temperature in height. The temperature of the centrifuge inside surface of its side wall is maintained higher than that of the external surface. The temperature gradient between the inner and outer surfaces of the centrifuge side wall is 50-300 C, preferably 100-200 C. Device for production of mineral fibers comprises centrifuge casing with drawholes in the side wall, a melt delivery tray installed in the centrifuge, outside of its burner. The side wall of the centrifuge is made of a material whose heat conductivity is under 20 20 V m-1s-1 at 1000 C or under 10 V m-1s-1 at 1000 C or of a material whose coefficient of heat diffusion is below 5•10-6 m2s-1 at 1000 C, or from ceramics based on fritted silicon carbide, or from composition ceramics with the matrix from silicon carbide, or from composition ceramics with silicon carbide matrix reinforced with carbon fibers, the centrifuge has a protective layer based on silicon carbide. EFFECT: improved functional and operating characteristics. 10 cl, 3 dwg
