FIELD: production of mineral fibers. SUBSTANCE: in a method of manufacturing mineral wool, mineral material melt with elevated temperature of liquidus and viscosity at liquidus temperature below 3200 poise is centrifuged at temperature below 1400 C with viscosity above 100 poise through multitude of holes in outside wall of fiber-formation unit. Mineral-wool mat made of these fibers with temperature of liquidus higher than 1200 C contains less than 10% of non-fibered particles larger than 100 mcm in size. In fiber-formation apparatus, external annular burner to form gas stream is located at 15-30 mm above outside wall of fiber-formation unit, and inside vertical wall of external annular burner located nearer to the center has diameter less than that of upper part of outside wall of fiber- formation unit. Second fiber-formation apparatus is constructed with central internal annular burner and coaxially disposed additional internal annular burner with diverging flame located in immediate proximity to inner surface of outside wall of fiber-formation unit by means of flame-retaining facilities. The latter are disposed on inner surface of connecting clamp in the form of tulip arranged coaxially with fiber-formation unit. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process. 8 cl, 9 dwg , 4 tbl
