FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves determining bilirubin concentration directly before applying phototherapeutic treatment and several times later at the beginning of the treatment. The obtained results are used to calculate bilirubin concentration reduction rate. The phototherapeutic treatment is stopped not later than in 5 h. Bilirubin concentration is measured at the moment of phototherapeutic treatment interruption and later immediately after the interruption to calculate bilirubin concentration growth rate. The effectiveness index is calculated from a formula given in the patent application. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of the method.
